While, reportedly, due to everything (as I now like to call ‘it’), they’ve only filmed less than half of Writer/Director Matt Reeves‘ The Batman but we’re still got the first trailer from Warner Bros and it’s mighty!
Part Batman Begins era, part Tim Burton at his finest, I also trust Reeves to bring something more gritty and comic-book like than most, especially after the shine and sheen of what came after Christopher Nolan‘s The Dark Knight trilogy and, in truth, I really wouldn’t mind is this was a stand-alone film because with the cast involved, it could be very special indeed.
Starring Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman, after stellar turns in the likes of Good Time, The Lighthouse, Cosmopolis and (I just bet) Tenet, he’s looking every ounce the younger Wayne, with a desire for vengeance, in his own unique way. While the last shot in the trailer, that you can see below, feels a little digitally enhanced, the rest of the film looks great considering what they’ve had to work with so far.

The Batman also stars Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin, Paul Dano as Edward Nashton/The Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred, plus spots for Peter Sarsgaard, John Turturro and Barry Keoghan, who has recently come on board. With so many big roles in place, I also wondered if I saw Harley Quinn in the smoke of logo but that… could be a trick of the mind…
