Round-up: 2021 EE British Academy Film Awards: The Nominations

While without the usual glitz, glamour and awkward silences, Awards Season has been continuing in 2021 but a little more on the lowdown. That being said, BAFTA have pulled the names out of the voting hat with aplomb, announcing a superb range of nominees for some excellent films over the last year, even if we didn’t get to see them all in the cinema… yet!

Direct from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, who are lovely btw, all the nominations for the EE British Academy Film Awards 2021 can be found right here, on this very page. There’s been a total of 50 feature films who received an admirable nod of hope and, first up, we’ve got some overall highlights and then scroll down for the full breakdown. Despite the last year, the quality released has been incredibly high with a wide range of possible winners for each group, whilst I’d tip (from what I’ve seen so far) Nomadland and The Father for some of the big ones (Both Frances McDormand and Anthony Hopkins give exceptional performances), I’m also hopeful for the likes of Mogul Mowgli, Babyteeth, Promising Young Woman, Another Round (Druk), Soul, and Rocks – and don’t forget your chance to vote on your EE Rising Star here!

Join us on the weekend of 10 and 11 April to find out the winners – Keep scrolling down for all the details!

In a first for BAFTA, four women have been nominated in the Director category. Three of the nominated directors are also nominated for Film Not in the English Language. Also this year, first-time nominees account for four of the six nominated Directors and 21 of the 24 nominees in the performance categories. Continuing to support the UK industry, it’s great to see that the Outstanding British Film category has increased from six to 10 nominations, three of which are also nominated for Best Film.
