Equally one of the biggest surprises, and the most welcome one, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was a feature-length animation to behold. Beautifully drawn and realised, an emotive and connecting story and first-class entertainment from start to finish – and check out Matt’s 5-star review here!
Next up, from 2 June 2023, is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and this first look trailer celebrates the past and very much looks to the future, with a voice-over featuring Miles (Shameik Moore) and his mother Rio Morales (voiced by Luna Lauren Vélez) in a conversation about getting older and changing times, it’s smart and also quite touching – in just a short moment. There’s a lot to look forward to, and this is just the middle as Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse should arrive on 29 March 2024!
Directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson, with a screenplay from Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and David Callaham, we find Spider-Man reunited with Gwen Stacy and thrown straight into the Multiverse. Whilst there, he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence bu when a new threat arises, and their opinions clash, Miles must redefine what it means to be a hero… check out the trailer!
Alongside Moore and Velez, Hailee Steinfeld voices Gwen plus you’ve got a host of older and new characters with Jake Johnson, Issa Rae, Daniel Kaluuya, Jason Schwartzman, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez, Greta Lee, Rachel Dratch, Jorma Taccone, Shea Whigham, and Oscar Isaac all lending their talents to big moments – which I won’t spoil here.
