Now here’s a new documentary that’s sure to get people talking and, for me, always for the better when it’s informing me of a world that I don’t know much about, and it’s definitely an ‘all in’ kind of approach from the two-time Grammy Award-winning producer, singer and now filmmaker – D. Smith.

Smith knows what it’s like to come out as a Black trans woman and lose everything, and Kokomo City is definitely a bold directorial debut that focuses in on the lives of Black trans sex workers, and comes to UK and Irish cinemas on 4th August, from Dogwoof.

Taking up a seemingly simple mantle, Kokomo City shares the stories of four Black transgender sex workers in New York and Georgia. Shot in black and white, the documentary promises to reveal all – and the trailer backs that up – with an undoubted unfiltered and and unapologetic approach – watch it for yourself now:

Dogwoof releases KOKOMO CITY in UK and Irish cinemas on 4th August 2023

  1. Real talk. What she said about their clients not protecting them when it comes to trans phobia is very sad and unacceptable.

    1. Absolutely ❤️
